I have been advocating platinum as a long term investment along with gold for a long time since platinum started to dip below gold. It seems to me the thesis finally started to become real. 80% worldwide platinum production is from South Africa, and the platinum market is only one tenth of gold, very easy to move. I don't know what the striking miners will do next, but I won't be surprised to see more massive protests ahead. They may bring other South Africa mines to a halt. Traders are generally shorting platinum from my sources and we could be a huge short squeeze in platinum coming.
